January 2018: eQuipe Issue 8

Wow, just like that we are in 2018! We had a phenomenal 2017 and we look forward to achieving even greater things in the new year.

The entire company has come a long way since we first started and what a rewarding journey it has been. We recently celebrated our 30th birthday, while our sister companies – Malaysia’s Q Industries & Enterprise Sdn Bhd turned 25 and Q Industries & Trade Co. Ltd in Vietnam is 22 years old. That’s a combined business experience of nearly 80 years and we’re motivated to work even harder and to do our best for our clients and business partners.

With a new year, there are new changes, and we’ve had new transitions in upper management. With more than a decade of experience leading and expanding the international sales division and developing our Quantum range, our #girlboss Huilin is now our newly installed Group CEO; while Quek Kwan Yi who joined us in October has accepted the position of COO and will be overseeing our Vietnam offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and Hanoi. Just across the causeway, Jason Ngiam is now Executive Director of Q Industries Malaysia. With their shared expertise, the trio will lead the companies into its next exciting phase.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful 2018!

LEARNING TOUR AT Q.ULINARY ESSENTIALS

Students from Republic Polytechnic’s School of Hospitality recently visited the Q.ulinary Essentials flagship store as part of their Culinary Science and Kitchen Operations module.

At the flagship store, students were introduced to the wide variety of tools and equipment that Q Industries supplies to the F&B sector. As part of their learning journey, students had a presentation on the future of procurement and how Q Industries can play an important role in their career. A practical presentation afterwards also gave students a hands-on opportunity to check out and discover the differences in weight, quality and types of materials of each equipment.

We can’t wait for the next opportunity to nurture young minds and to share with them how Q Industries is an integrative hospitality solutions provider!

QFEATURED BRAND

VINTAGE CUTLERY IS BACK IN STYLE

Skinny jeans may rule the fashion world, but in the F&B business, vintage cutlery is making a comeback as the next in-thing. Made by highly skilled craftsmen, these cutleries will add an air of sophistication to your dining room.

We’ve added two to our repertoire – New Jersey-based Corby Hall’s new floral antique range and Serax’s Sergio Herman’s Surface collection.

Corby Hall’s master craftsmen have supplied the industry with elegant tableware for more than 30 years and they’re renowned for their extensive range of contemporary and traditional offerings. Their antique cutlery with engraved floral motifs pairs perfectly with any cuisine and will definitely be all the rage at your restaurant.

At Serax, this family business prides itself on producing unique pieces of tableware, glassware and furniture. Their recent Surface collection by designer Sergio Herman plays with different textures and each piece tells a different story that is moulded by the artist’s professional experience.

QFEATURED F&B SPOT

A CHAT WITH MR FRED MOUJALLI, CO-FOUNDER OF LITTLE FARMS…

Meet Mr Fred Moujalli, Co-Founder and Head of Operations at Little Farms, a gourmet grocery that specialises in fresh, quality produce, meats and dairy products.

The “farm to table” philosophy was inspired by…
Bringing real meaning back to ‘farm to table’ term. For me, it’s similar to how truffles are so undervalued in Asia as every other restaurant uses it in their fries and chips. My business partner Justin and myself work closely with artisanal producers who share the same ethos as us. We’re all about ensuring that our products are sourced ethically and that we get the best seasonal ingredients from France, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.

The Little Farms experience is…
Definitely unique. We take pride in curating a great shopping experience for our diverse customer base and we do our best to provide samples and tasting portions of our products to help our customers find what they like.

Customers can expect the Little Farms restaurant to have…
The best ingredients of the season. Which is why the salad and sandwich bar will change daily according to what’s in season that week. The restaurant will feature an all-day breakfast menu of avocados and poached eggs, steak and eggs, fluffy pancakes, Australian sausages and bacon. We’re commencing dinner service on 12th January 2018.

You chose Quantum Pro kitchen utensils and Serax tableware because…
Quantum (Q Industries) [HL1] is all about family, just like us. We found them so honest with their practices and keen to provide fantastic service that we were completely won over by them. We chose Serax because they have amazing products that are so humble and elegant and yet, doesn’t overwhelm the food but complements it instead.
