What a great 2016 it was for Q Industries and hello to an exciting 2017 ahead! This issue of eQuipe features a new and refreshed look alongside new sections such as QNEWS, QFEATURED BRAND, QFEATURED F&B SPOT, QMAN and QFACTS.
2016 was all about change at Q Industries. Other than a major rebranding at the start of last year, we took a step further by cementing our ties and regrouping with our partners in Malaysia and Vietnam. Together as one, we are The Q Industries Group. With more resources and new team members from various fields, we continued working towards our mission of transforming the hotel procurement function with our unique blend of innovative solutions and integrator services. We also started reaching out to more consumers by holding a XMAS Warehouse Sale last month and had the opportunity to have met up with many of you.
In less than 3 months, our biggest project, QHUB will also be opened in Ho Chi Minh City! We could not be more excited, being the pacesetter in Vietnam with this state-of-the-art warehousing and lifestyle building. Stay tune for updates and the official opening date over at our Facebook page and don’t forget to LIKE us too!
We promise 2017 will be bigger and better as we continue to deliver fresh and innovative solutions with simplicity to you and your business. Cheers to a great year ahead!

The company’s core management team includes husband-and-wife founders Tony and Jacqueline Quek, who have run the company for 30 years, their daughter Huilin Quek as well as long-time business partner and executive director Christophe Megel.

– QHUB; READY, SET, GO
On 22nd October last year, our executive directors flew in to Ho Chi Minh City for the groundbreaking ceremony of our biggest project; a 4-storey warehousing and lifestyle facility hub. Located in District 7, the 60,000 square feet QHUB comprises of a Cash and Carry Warehouse, Meeting and Team Building Facilities and a Bistro. Scheduled to open in Q2 this year, the QHUB will bring about a wide range of quality products and greater convenience to hospitality professionals in the region. QFEATURED BRAND
– SERAX; THE MOST INESCAPABLE BELGIAN DESIGN BRAND
In this issue, we share a little more about Serax; a family business in Belgium that is similar to Q Industries and had inspired us with their company philosophy.
Set up in 1987, brothers Axel and Serge Van den Bossche decided to take over their mother’s business under the name Serax. What started with a series of flower pots soon grew into an extensive range of decorative articles. Today, the Serax collection includes no less than 4,000 interior objects, ranging from original glassware to elegant dinnerware and tea light candles and now serves as a design platform, where synergies are created between Belgian and international designers like Pascale Naessens, Roos van de Velde alongside Michelin Chefs such as Sergio Herman.
As Serax continues to develop new products that are both innovative and affordable, they always retain the ambition of offering their customers accessible, high-quality and functional design. Serax is available for trade orders in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Maldives and Indonesia. Speak to us today to find out more.

QMAN IN THE HOUSE
– CHEF STEPHAN
This issue, we also managed to speak to the chef himself, who not only cooks at Chef’s Table but runs the bespoke pop up restaurant Nutopia. He keeps himself busy by providing consultancy services via 2015L Pte Ltd as well.
IF YOUR KITCHEN IS ON FIRE, WHAT IS THE ONE KITCHEN EQUIPMENT YOU WOULD SAVE AND WHY?
My personal chef’s knife. Firstly, it was a present from a friend in Hong Kong and it is quite a unique piece. A chef without knife cannot do much!
IF THERE IS ONE PERSON WHOM YOU COULD COOK FOR, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHAT WOULD YOU COOK?
Georges Auguste Escoffier. He is the godfather of French cuisine. I would cook him a very simple and humble dish according to the best produce I would have available.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DISH OUT OF ALL THE VARIOUS DISHES YOU HAVE SERVED AND WHY?
I don’t really have a favourite. I like fresh seasonal produce. I like to constantly cook new dishes and I don’t have signature dishes.
WHAT IS ONE INGREDIENT YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT?
Potato! It is the most versatile ingredient to me and it keeps me to my own roots – Austria.
IF YOU HADN’T BECOME A CHEF, WHERE WOULD YOU BE RIGHT NOW?
I would be a pilot! I always wanted to travel the world so when I was a kid, I only saw that I was either going to be a pilot or a chef. I thought the culinary world is more interesting and it was not going to take me a long time to become a chef compared to being a pilot. Plus, becoming a chef means I was not going to be go back to school to study!
QFACTS
– ALL ABOUT THE QUANTUM PRO
DURABLE AND COST-EFFICIENT:
The Quantum Pro cookwares are made from STS 304, a high quality stainless steel that is hard-wearing and 100% food safe. From the bottom of the pan, heat travels along the side and warms the pan rapidly, saving energy and cooking time altogether at once.
UNIQUE DESIGN:
The base of every Quantum Pro cookware is made with a concavity of between 0.3% and 0.5%. This unique feature uses centripetal force to heat food. At the same time, heat is apportioned evenly at the base to keep food warm for a long time, translating to significant savings on electricity.
STRONG HARDWARE:
All the cookware in the Quantum Pro series are corrosion and heat resistant, staying tough at a wide rage of temperatures. The bottom is 3-ply thick and features a middle layer of aluminium, one of the best conductors of heat. Pot and pan handles are attached to the body by spot welding, ensuring they can sustain considerable weight and pressure. With an optimum thickness ranging from 0.8mm to 1.5mm, they are strong yet lightweight enough for easy handling.
VERSATILE AND EASY TO CLEAN:
Suitable for use with a variety of cookers – glass, ceramic, gas, halogen, induction as well as conventional stove cooking, the cookwares are made to endure the harsh conditions of the professional kitchen and can withstand daily cleaning and are 100% dishwasher-safe.
Contact us today to find out how you can get your own set of Quantum Pro pots and pans.
